This workshop will teach participants about a dynamic culturally responsive community inclusion model. This model engages subgroups across university, faith-based institutions, and community groups to address identified community needs. Social isolation is a pervasive problem for individuals with intellectual and developmental challenges that result in moderate to severe limitations with communication and cognition and their families. This health and wellness day program provides a place and purpose for an isolated and vulnerable population while modeling empathy, connection, and enhanced communication skills for college students that will result in increased social responsibility within their communities. Participants will learn about the community-in-community inclusion model and engagement strategies for identified subgroups.

Opportunity will be provided for engagement focused action with a signature community inclusion strategy for participants, university students and inclusion ambassadors. BCPP Community Inclusion Ambassadors will host a campus walk and tour of their photo exhibit.
