Marie T. Lindquist

Marie Lindquist is director of field service education at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. She is responsible for directing the domestic field program in the first Master of Public Service degree program in the country. Lindquist also teaches the Practicum and Capstone courses where students apply the knowledge and skills they are learning in the classroom to projects focused on systemic social issues.

Prior to joining the Clinton School faculty in August 2008, Lindquist spent nine years at Rhodes College where she began as director of student orientation and leadership programs and became associate dean of students in 2006. During her Rhodes tenure, Lindquist concentrated on helping all Rhodes students connect what they were learning in the classroom to real world experiences. She oversaw the college’s Burch Scholars Program, which provided scholarships to low-income students who learned leadership through service. During her years directing the program, the Council of Independent Colleges honored it as a successful initiative that promotes student learning and serves community interests and the Robert and Ruby Priddy Charitable Trust awarded the college a $4 million grant for the scholarships. She also founded the college’s Summer Service Fellowship program, a core component of Rhodes CARES (Center for Academic Research and Education through Service).

Lindquist graduated summa cum laude with her bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. While earning her masters of Science in Education degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (SIUC), she served as President of the Student Personnel Association.

Lindquist has also served as a National Issues Forum Moderator, a National Coalition Building Institute Facilitator, a SafeZones Facilitator and a LeaderShape Cluster Facilitator. Lindquist participated in Class XXVII of Leadership Greater Little Rock during 2011-2012. She was also recognized as the Rhodes Student Government Outstanding Staff Member of the Year in both 2000 and 2006.
